"I am very excited to continue my relationship with Eddie Sharp Racing," stated Michael McDowell. "I’m looking forward to the next phase of my motorsports career and hope to build off the momentum from last season."
McDowell spent most of 2006 competing in the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series driving for Finlay Motorsports. McDowell and Eddie Sharp Racing began preparations for 2007 after entering five ARCA RE/MAX Series races in 2006. A sixth place finish at Salem, in only his third start, gave McDowell a spark of momentum that included a fifth at Talladega and a season ending fourth at Iowa.
That momentum should be hard to stop as team owner Eddie Sharp has enlisted the efforts of crew chief Patrick Donahue and car chief Wayne Carol to guide McDowell and #2 Dodge to the goal of 2007 ARCA Rookie of the Year. |
Donahue joins ESR after successful stints with Hendrick Motorsports and Evernham Motorsports. Carol is an ESR veteran who guided the team's #4 Dodge to victory lane at Pocono in June, 2006.
"We have added Patrick and Wayne to complete the competitive spirit on the number 2 Dodge," said Sharp. "Michael’s goal of ARCA Rookie of the Year is something we are very excited to be apart of, and we are not alone; A primary sponsorship announcement is coming soon."
"With top notch people and technical support from Chip Ganassi Racing, I am very confident with the program Eddie Sharp has put together," said McDowell.
The 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series begins in Daytona Beach, FL with the Daytona ARCA 200 on Saturday, February 10.
